Hexagram 17

Following our seeking of thunder
on this lake of reality to find renewal
in the night, we must go indoors to
find strength and recuperation.

The autumn electricity withdraws
into earth to rest as thunder rests
in winter, we make adaptations to
demands from time; out of this image.

I cannot make favorable a situation
until I adapt, learning how much my
resistance to adapting wears on me
with mistaken denial.

Facing a mirror that reflects journeys past
and not able to see ones own image there
cannot necessarily mean you were not.

Lost in Thought

Each empty room becomes cellular,

independent, sterile seeking fertile

involvement to fill it with worth.

Empty rooms do not belong

to any definition, thoughts without

action belong to nothingness.

Walking with words unspoken

are like books written without

readers to bring them to life.

Wanders, seekers, dreamers

find these rooms, giving structure

meaning, virility and belonging.

Off the Cuff

Extemporaneous

words which touch
one’s heart; one’s mind.
Strange it is how we react
to words, written in lines;
pages of how did I get here,
what is the purpose, what
is important, communicating
clearly cannot overcome lack
of understanding.

Thoughts become etched on
stones; symbols on walls,
marks in the dirt of time
only to find utterances
practical for the period.

Ordered symbols became
words when placed together
to mimic utterance of the nature
the howl of wolves and the
call of birds
from this came the word.

Wick and wax
of tallow smells
stands indifferent alone,
in the colorlessness  a
silent sentinel emblematic
of many minds stands
in an empty room.
In darkness it stands
as silence grows,
engulfing space.
The Icon awaiting fire.

Reflections Old Ice New Moon

I watch as new ice forms
crackling patterns of frost

my vision through the pane
is obscured becoming kaleidoscopic

you rise above the sill and horizon
to bless me as love in winter

next to the fire of your embrace
as the yin next to me is Janus

the full of your ardor arises
to blossom full moon waxing.
